CA Member Communique: Lumpy Skin Disease Preparedness Webinar

Dear members, Australia is free of Lumpy Skin Disease and we want to keep it that way. Its detection in parts of Europe and Asia, and the responses taken in those countries to address outbreaks, provide valuable lessons for the Australian industry to learn from in preparing for and preventing its entry to our shores. Cattle Australia will be hosting an important webinar on the topic of 'Understanding Lumpy Skin Disease: global learnings for Australian preparedness', which I encourage you to attend. The webinar will be held on February 25, from 12-1pm (AEDST), and will be delivered by Australia’s Chief Veterinary Officer, Dr Beth Cookson. As CVO, Beth is the primary representative and advisor to the Australian Government on Australia’s animal health status, co-chair of the national Animal Health Committee and Australia’s Delegate to the World Organisation for Animal Health. Beth has more than 20 years’ experience in biosecurity policy and operational roles in the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, including animal health surveillance, biosecurity import risk analysis and trade negotiation. Living and working in Cairns, she has a special interest in biosecurity threats across northern Australia, and the strategy, policy, collaboration and capacity building needed to address biosecurity threats from across the region. This is an excellent opportunity to build knowledge of LSD within our industry and to learn from the international experiences. · Please click here to register your attendance .
