About this event
Shared by Therese Creed. You're invited to the Jambin, Central QLD, launch of : "To Save a Beach: The Story of Reckless Renewables." by Sandra Bourke. Come and meet members of The Tenacious Ten, who have spent 8 years fighting the massive Smoky Creek solar and battery project; 9000acres of the Callide Valley Food Bowl, leased to Edify Energy for an industrial zone of panels and batteries on the reef watershed that feeds surrounding farming country. Clearing has commenced. Construction is underway. Sandra and her husband Bruce drove the length of the National Electricity Market in their campervan for this book, from the Hunter coast to Far North Queensland, down to Victoria and across to South Australia. They sat at kitchen tables and walked the paddocks with the farmers and communities standing up to this government's reckless rollout of turbines, grid solar and massive transmission projects. Sandra will give a short presentation on the book and the people in it. Then it's over to you for a bite to eat, a cold drink and great conversation with the people who lived these stories. * Signed copies will be available on the day. Everyone welcome. Bring a neighbour. www.sandrabourke.com A new book and website reveals the terrible cost of renewables. Everybody in Australia has a place...
